BOZEMAN-BASED CONFLUENCE FILMS ANNOUNCES PRODUCTION OF NEW FILM, PROVIDENCE AND “THE BIGGEST SINGLE NIGHT OF FLY FISHING FILM IN THE WORLD!”

BOZEMAN, MONTANA, 7 September 2016 — Bozeman-based Confluence Films is pleased to announce the release of their fifth, full-length fly-fishing film, scheduled to premiere in Bozeman on Saturday, October 15, 2016.  Confluence Films’ Chris Patterson and Jim Klug, Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventure’s Camille Egdorf, and South African guides Gerhard Laubscher and Tim Babich have teamed up for an amazing journey that is based upon a return to the remote and uninhabited Seychelles atoll of Providence, located in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The new film chronicles the first trip back to Providence Atoll since the waters were closed to all fishermen and boat access in 2009 due to hijackings and the continued threats and activities of Somali pirates. The team returned in October of 2015, spending several weeks exploring the atoll and fishing for multiple flats species including giant trevally, bluefin trevally, bumphead parrotfish, bonefish, Indo-Pacific permit, triggerfish, milkfish and more. Filmed on location in the Seychelles, Africa, Montana and Alaska, the end result is an amazing and exciting story of adventure, piracy, challenging fish, Indian Ocean history, and the exploration of some of the world’s most untouched flats.

Rather than setting up multiple-date screenings in different cities, Confluence has planned for PROVIDENCE to have a single, synchronized world premiere night that takes place exclusively on October 15. With screening events taking place as far away as Buenos Aires and London, Confluence has invited conservation groups, fly shops, clubs and other fly fishing entities to organize and host their own independent premiere events, allowing people all across the country and throughout the world the opportunity to be the “very first” to view the new Confluence movie. This synchronized premiere concept also enables Confluence to promote these collective events as“The Biggest Single Night of Fly Fishing Film in the World.” Over the past ten years, these independent Confluence screening events have collectively raised more than $350,000 for a variety of grass-roots fisheries conservation efforts.
