Give Back to the Yellowstone River Clean Up
Coalition of local groups spearhead Yellowstone River Cleanup Effort
A coalition of local non-profit groups has come together to organize a community clean up effort on the Yellowstone River after the historic flooding in June.
On Saturday, August 20th, volunteers will gather starting at 9 a.m. at Sacajawea Park and disperse to stretches of the river throughout the Paradise Valley and in Livingston to clean up trash and debris. Interested volunteers can sign up online here.
All trash collected will be disposed of onsite back at Sacajawea Park in dumpsters provided by the City of Livingston. Bags and gloves will be supplied during check in.
Starting at 5 p.m., back at the Miles Park Band Shell in Sacajawea Park there will be BBQ from the Chef’s Table food truck, beer from Neptune’s Brewing and music from Quenby.
More than 300 structures, including bridges, roads, residences and commercial buildings were damaged in the flooding, including 8 bridges, 7 roads and three residences being completely destroyed, according to Park County. Debris can be seen along the length of the Yellowstone River.
Additional sponsors of the cleanup include Upper Yellowstone Watershed Group, AFFTA Fisheries Fund, Ten and Two Co, Neptune’s Brewing, Sweetwater Fly Shop, Montana Classic Boat Tours, Skwala Fishing Gear, Outdoor Guide Association, Restoration Engineering and Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures.
